How My Ancestors Practiced Shamanism

Lets look at how my ancestors practiced Shamanism. In my tradition, in the ancient days, the Shaman was actually hired by a tribe. He was a free agent and could go from group to group as needed. He often worked with many isolated groups of people within a 500 mile or more range geographically. They would send runners to fetch him when something was needed in the group. He would live with one group for months or years at a time. The tribes would pay him for his services by giving him food and shelter and clothes and other amenities and he would have as much as the chief of the group had because he was so valuable to that group as doctor, priest, counselor, weatherman, midwife, surgeon, forecaster, peacekeeper and so much more. But if he did not produce… If he could not do what he promised, (“ it is what you do that defines you”; fourth truth in traditional shamanism) they would throw him out with nothing, not even his clothes! And odds were that the next group were not going to take in a frozen starving shaman either!

This prevented just anybody from saying that they were a shaman. In fact, people were afraid to even think of pretending to be a shaman because if they could not do what they said, they were likely to die or be killed. The very fact that my Shaman grandmother was able to teach me the ways of my ancestors should prove to you that my ancestors were very powerful Shamans!

Today, lots of people call themselves shamans because there is no consequence to lying. In fact, more than 70% of the earth’s population now believe it is ok to lie to anyone about anything at anytime. So people pay “wanna be” shamans who can do nothing and only talk a big talk, lie.  I wish we could go back to the old ways of “do what you say you do”. When we can all live up to that truth and do what we define ourselves to be, the world will be a better, more honest place.

Day 101 From a Student

A Student Writes: "I am so honored beyond belief as to who you are for me, my family and everything and I am clear that I cannot even imagine all the miracles you are causing.  I see them every day.  My husband is so thankful for you in our life too.  He had a great conversation with his younger son yesterday and were clear it was you who helped with that.  Thank YOU.  Things are getting better all around, both of them seem happy and healthy and taking care of themselves and responsible and they both seem clear.  Thank YOU.  Again, youre making me cry.  My only issue today was that I noticed my brain trying to figure out how to repay you my husband says not to do that and just receive.  He is very wise. its receiving of your love and Creators love for me that makes me cry tears of gratitude, freedom and joy". - Kristine Castro

Day 99: Your Healing

You have no idea of the healing that is being conducted through me by God to you and your family. You have no full concept that I have come to this world to this lifetime to bring miracles into the world for you and your family right now as I was trained all my life to do. You have no concept that I deliberately intended to bring God’s miracles to you at this time in the universe of all the eons of time that I could choose to be here. I will continue to do so. For you – because I love you. Just ask me.

Day 95 The Eyes Have It

In my native tradition there are varying levels of skills or abilities for each Shaman. But every shaman has tarni which are like mantras or special words  or chants that contain healing power or are words which call in the power of helper spirits. A helper spirit may be a tree or a stone or a bird or something that is not manifested physically here but is in allegiance already with that Shaman from a long ongoing relationship. A Shaman apprentice is often given a special stick or staff to carry early in his or her education and it becomes the Shaman's horse or reindeer in the non manifested reality. It is taken care of and a special relationship is formed with that staff. The staff can then help the Shaman in healing work in later years. The Shaman has just one staff all her life and is usually buried with this staff. To gain possession of a dead Shaman's staff is believed to cause the death of the possessor.

Ab is the word used to explain the power of the Shaman as a healer.

Huch refers to the Shaman's spiritual strength.

Tsog describes the shaman's psychic abiltiies or chi force.

Because the Shaman's tsog is sometimes seen as fire or lightning or sparks from that Shaman's eyes, it is considered disrespectful and even dangerous to look a Shaman in the eyes, directly. The eyes are considered a window to ones soul. The Shaman can often diagnose soul loss by looking into a person's eyes. And evil can be seen there and attach itself to someone from there, too. It is believed by my people, possible for an evil person to take your soul from you by looking into your eyes. Some people steal the energy of other people by looking into their eyes. So I was taught to be very careful about whose eyes I made contact with, to be sure it was someone good and trustworthy. We also see this same belief in Native American traditions. You might want to be careful about who you make eye contact with for these very good reasons.  You just learned why people bow their heads when in the presence of power!

Day 92 Where Are You?

Do you have a memory of a better place or time? Do you really think there was a better time than this time or a better place than this place?

No time is better than now. No place is better than here. You can dream of times and places from long ago and imagine that they're better. They're only better in your imagination. You forget what you want to forget and remember what you want to remember. It was never that good. It was never that bad. It was like now, good and bad, depending on how you want to imagine it.

This time and place has infinite depth, because your imagination has infinite depth. What exists is like raw material for your imagination. You fill in the blanks. You paint the picture of your experience whatever colors you like. You choose good or bad according to your needs. Sometimes you need a bad experience to make you feel good. Sometimes you need emptiness to have something to fill. You may need dreams to entertain yourself. You may need pathos to liberate your dreams.

What does it matter in a dream? Good or bad, the dream ends. When the dream ends you are liberated from it. The good or bad judgments end. Nothing will come from it. Nothing will remain. It disappears forever because it never existed. It leaves no reverberations.

Morning comes and a new day begins, again and again. You'll wake up when you want to wake up. You'll never fall asleep again, if that's what you want. You're free to awaken or sleep as you like.

When you dream, you're still real. You continue. Life continues. God continues. The world turns, regardless of your attention. The collective dream continues. You can join it or leave it, as you like.

It takes courage to wake up while others sleep. To be the only one awake can feel like a terrible responsibility. It's not. The dreamer is cared for, always. You don't have to do anything. Everyone is safe.

You don't need to tiptoe through the dreams of others. They'll fit you into their dream stories as they like. You're not responsible for their choices. You can be a hero and a villain at the same time. You can be a star, or you can slip by unnoticed.

You're not alone. You're surrounded by dreams and dreamers. The dreams interweave. The dreamers dance. The dream will end when it ends. Then you'll see it for what it is, nothing at all.

Listen and Be Healed!

I know that Creator does not intend for us to be without healing. For every disease known in this world, the very agents to heal it are also here among us. And it is the joy and honor of the traditional shaman to be able to find these healing agents and bring them across the bridge to this world and its people
I was looking for those healing agents that I could give to the world that would make a real difference and bring healing, wholeness, health, abundance to anyone who wanted such things. So I prayed about it and I was given the go ahead to offer specific healing chants on audio Cds to the world. I ask the client to pay for the cost to create the audio Cd and mail it to them, which is $29.95 and then I ask the client what they are willing to receive a healing from.
Late at night when I am full of prayer and balanced and happy I sit down in the recording studio and begin to relate the story of that dis-ease in the client’s life. The guides provide me with certain insights as to the cause of the clients dis-ease and I present those in a teaching to show the client why they have this struggle and how to remove it through a simple practice. Then I offer a chant that will clear out any discordance in the client’s mind and open up the crown chakra and the third eye chakra to allow healing to enter into the consciousness of the client. This chant that I do with the client together not only removes the dis-ease but opens up all the channels within the physical and etheric bodies of the client and actual physical healing can be literally felt moving and adjusting and re-aligning even the cells and bones and organs and muscles of the physical body. Clarity and serenity and even laughter and joy are the results of the meditation I offer on this audio Cd and when the Cd is over in one half hour, that client has been completely renewed in body mind and spirit.  The continued use of this audio Cd only leads to even more abundance, health, joy and ease.
Yes it is truly a miracle! And it is an honor for me to be able to offer this gift to the world. Its value is enormous. Many, many surgeries, hospitalizations, suicides, conflicts have all been averted because of clients just simply taking a half hour to listen to their own customized Cd in just the one month I have been offering this gift. I feel so humbled to be part of the great healing agenda that Creator intends upon us right now in these latter times.
I know that Creator does not intend for us to be without healing. For every disease known in this world, the very agents to heal it are also here among us. And it is the joy and honor of the traditional shaman to be able to find these healing agents and bring them across the bridge to this world and its people. These audio recordings done in my own voice are just such a healing agent. I am honored to bring them to you.

Day 79 The Whale Story

Day 79 The Whale Story
Imagine that you are a whale. Feel your whale body, your huge size, your rows or straining teeth that gather food as you move through the ocean. Feel your fins and your great tail that directs your path. Now feel the ocean around you; its coolness, your home, your means of finding food and sustaining yourself. Is the ocean moving around you or is it just still? Your food is found in the currents. As you travel the currents you find schools of little fish to eat. You must get into the current to sustain yourself. Now call on Madame Pele to show you the current. Call out to her with your whale song in the night. Listen for your brothers and sisters to call back to you for they have found the current and will show you the way. Go to the current, to your brothers and sisters and swim with them in the current.

Now feel the current increasing around you as you get closer to it. It gets stronger and stronger and starts to carry you along effortlessly. See your brothers and sisters there with you in this current. Schools of fish come streaming by numbered in the thousands. Open your mouth and use your teeth like a sieve to filter in the good food and keep the non edible things away. Fill your belly with the gifts of Madame Pele. You are a hungry whale, a skinny whale as you have been away from the current for the long time. Feed long and heartily and sing your song to your brothers and sisters thanking them for showing you the way. You have found the current where your food your sustenance is located. Feed heartily. Nourish yourself and thrive in this current. Your ride has just begun.

Day 63 The Four Enemies of a Shaman Part one: Fear

1. Fear:

Fear is what we might feel when we approach the unknown. It is said that if you feel fear then do your best to gain all the information you can about the thing that frightens you. But since we have so far perceived so very little of this universe, both manifest and non manifest, there are going to be things that are unknown to us. Fear is not something we can entirely banish from our lives unless we go live in a prison cell and sit there doing nothing, not gaining any new experiences or perceptions at all. But that would not be the life of a shaman warrior.

Whenever we face the unknown we find our own identities, our own concepts and beliefs and reality being confronted. For some people, this is an attack on what they are comfortable with, the rut they live in, the suffering they have grown accustomed to and they do not want to be confronted with anything that is unknown. For the shaman warrior, there is no way to gain a new perception without confronting the unknown! So we go in even though we feel this fear. We work through this fear, we go in spite of fear and we walk into the unknown with a spirit of humility. We take authority for what we do know, we take responsibility for the fact that we do not know very much at all and we step into the unknown like the Star Trek Enterprise speeding off to new galaxies, to go where no man has gone before! LOL!

Our new dimension is this now moment. This moment is the only one we are responsible for. The only one we have any control over, the only one that matters. This now moment is a chance to gain a new perception, to widen our view, to see new heights, to add a beam to our boat, to create.

To vanquish Fear: Take responsibility for your harmony. Align yourself in balance with everything around you. Be at peace with what is in this very moment now. Are you OK now in this moment right here? And in this moment? And in this moment now? And now? And then have an attitude of humility; you do not know everything and you never will know everything so let the world be a mystery and enjoy exploring it and gaining new perceptions 100 times each day as a child would explore his back yard or as Captain Kirk would explore a new galaxy.

Day 57 Betrayal

In every person’s life as a child, there comes  a day when we discover that our parents lied to us. It is usually not a very big lie, but these parents who we trusted completely and believed every single thing they said and did and we even attempted to imitate them thinking that they knew what they were doing and were experts on how to live life in the best possible way, we catch them in a lie. It might be simply that there is no Santa Claus, it might be that we see them doing some act of selfishness at our expense. It might be one of those do as I say not as I do events. It might be overhearing our parents talking trash about us in the heat of an argument saying things they don’t really mean. But in every child’s life there comes a moment when that child realizes that her parents have lied to her. And this feels like the ultimate betrayal. It is usually the first time we are betrayed by anyone we truly loved.
So it depends on how that child handles that betrayal that can color their whole life experience. Most of us suddenly realize that our parents are not gods. We may realize that our parents are struggling and suffering and not having a very good time here after all. We may realize that our parents do not know everything after all and so we change how we see them and they become human beings instead of gods and we learn to rely on our own selves from that point on. This is that moment in a young teen’s life when she stops confiding in her parents, when she starts making her own decisions, when she would rather choose for herself than rely on her now human parents to make choices for her anymore. This is normal and healthy.
But there are some kids who are so traumatized by the idea that their parents would actually lie to them,  that they never got over it. They feel such a sense of betrayal that they cannot forgive their parents for being human. It becomes blown out of proportion in the child’s mind and there is no one around to seek counseling from, to explain this betrayal is just a human being- being human.
And, instead of going through what most of us go through and learning at this time of childhood that it is better to make our own way than to rely on other humans to do it for us, this person has not recovered from this natural point in every child’s life when they catch the ones they trust doing untrustworthy things. She did not reach that decision to create her own life the best she could and instead just rejected her parents as defective and she is still thinking that there are gods in the world who can run her life for her and not betray her. So time and time again she trusts in someone and makes them the parent god for her life and tine and time again they betray her. It is a broken record.
What she needs to do is take responsibility for her own life, just like that teenage girl who decided it is better to make her own decisions for her own life, no matter how bad or mistaken they may be, rather than to let any other human being run her life for her. We learn by experience how to make better and better choices as we go along. But this person has not even picked up the baton and tried to make her own choices. She has spent her life looking for someone else to make her choices for her. I would encourage her to stand in her power now and begin to create her own life for herself rather than looking for another parent figure god. There are no gods in this world. There is no one else here who would know how to live her life in the best way. Only she can determine that and create that for herself.

Day 52 Bad Karma is a Cause of Disease

The most dangerous being in all the world is the human being. It is the only being that will deliberately violate your free will choice. So this is the being we need to protect ourselves from. All the other beings can do nothing without your permission or willingness. They are nothing compared to the human being who will violate you and rip your life apart and hurt you or imprison you or kill you.  These are the beings we must learn to deal with yes. Some ways my family taught me to deal with people is to respect that they too have free will choice. There is no reason for me to violate the free will choice of any created thing. I learned to respect the free will of people and of trees and of mountains and of spoons. I will not violate their free will as they too are sentient beings having a life experience here just as I am. But I also respect my own free will and I take responsibility for what I create on this planet too. WE get into trouble when we start trying to push our views, our beliefs onto other beings. When we forget that the spoon is sentient and just throw it in the sink as though it is nothing, that creates bad karma for us. And that karma amasses until nothing is going right for us at all. I was taught at age three how to respect my toys so that I did not create negative karma. I have spent my whole life respecting the free will of everything around me and perhaps it is because I have not created the decades of bad karma by ignoring the free will of everything that I have such joy and peace and abundance in my life. If I can give you one gift from this course , this would be it.
There is an old lama from Tibet. His name is Tsongkhapa. He lived about 1200 AD and is still very famous for his words of wisdom today. And he said, “if the maturation of a karma is in progress, it cannot be altered, even by Buddha. There are many different causes of insanity: intense fear, a chemical imbalance, an imbalance in the body’s elements, deep sorrow, intense greed, and so on. Some become mentally ill simply because of the natural progression of their karma. In this latter case, no ordinary treatment can help. If mental or physical illness is brought about from the maturation of a karma, then the best treatment is the collection of merit and the purification of negativities”.

My Shaman Grandmother knew about the devastating effects of accumulating negative karma in this lifetime. And so she taught me when I was a wee little kid with no more understanding about life than how to play with dollies that I needed to respect  the free will of every sentient being, every creation and offer random acts of kindness anonymously to create good karma in my life.

Day 43 How Can Someone Make Money Doing Healing Work

Student question: I want to work as a healer. I am not happy working in a non healing job and so I am quitting my current job and going with my heart that tells me I can work as  a healer and get paid for it if I put my trust in God to provide for me. What do you think?
My reply: Regarding finding the healing job, do you know that almost any ordinary job can become a healing job? I once worked as a stock boy for a store. My job was to unload the trucks bringing huge crates of merchandise, to unload the boxes, price the items and put them on the shelves. Doesn't sound like a healing job does it!
But I started out each day as the healer I am.  I brought blessings and healing down on the store before I even arrived. I blessed each employee. I blessed the truck drivers. I put Creator's Spirit of love and light  into each item I handled no matter what it was. I worked with awareness and balance and was committed to doing the best job I could as a healer. I didn't tell anyone there. I just did my healing work. God gave me boxes and shipments to work with and so I healed those. It was a healing job for me because I made it healing work. Do you see how any job can be healing work?
What happened in that store? Their sales went up by 250%! Their customer base increased 400%. I eventually wound up being the night manager of the store! Many people sought me out there and received personal healing. They would find me stocking shelves and pour out their problems to me and as I listened I did healing work silently. They would often hug me or kiss me good bye even though I had not said anything but just offered them love and kindness and this silent healing. They would come back week after week and bring me presents too!
This is what Creator calls a healing job!
It can be any job at all, pushing a broom, cleaning a toilet, flipping a burger. So don't sit there on your fanny waiting for a "healing job" to fall out of the tree on your head. Go do a healing job. Make any job a healing job.
