Day 103 Who Is Shaman Maggie?

Her life is the very course of nature: her death, the transformation of things. In quietude she coils up with the yin, in movement, she opens up with the yang. Her vital spirits are imbued with an endless peace, she does not lose herself in things and yet the world spontaneously submits to her. By non being this sage responds to things and necessarily penetrates into the laws of existence, by her emptiness she receives the plenitude and necessarily fathoms its rules. Nothing is distant from her, nothing is close to her.

She is close to Tao and touches Te, she is not enticed by good fortune, nor does she hasten into misfortune, her hun and p’o remain  in their dwelling places and her vital spirits hold on to the root. Life and death make no difference to her, that is why she is called supremely spiritual ( shen).

She is full as if empty. She knows Grand simplicity and without ado returns to the potential not yet manifested. She incorporates the Root, Embraces the divine and frolics between heaven and earth as a child. Radiant she roams beyond the dust and impurities, and goes higher and yon in aimless wandering. Immense and vast. Clever deceits do not dwell in her heart. Also, life and death are of equal greatness and so she does not distinguish between them. Although Heaven and Earth protect and nourish her, she is not held in the embrace. She experiences Non-failure and does not get mixed up with things. She perceives the disorder of things, but remains steadfast in her Origin.

Her heart and will are concentrated within, penetrating and universal, she is paired with the One. Without learning, she knows. Without looking, she sees, without acting, she achieves, without any effort she discerns. She responds impulsively, she moves when solicited, without willing, she goes as a light shines or like a lightning flash.

Life and death are for her all a part of the same transformation, the ten thousand things are only a single entity. Her essence united with the Root of Great Purity, she takes her pleasure within the confines of the obscure Empire. She does not rush her spirit.. She reverses the end and the beginning and ignores her limitations.

 She rests in a place without corners or bends, she wanders and takes pleasure in a land without trace or form. She is there, but without appearance. She dwells, but in no places, moving she has no form, motionless she has no body.

Beginning and end form a circle and no one can know its ruling principle. That is why the her vital spirits are able to rise up to the Tao -  the place where she takes her leisure.

Day 90 A Message to All My Students

Becoming a Shaman in any lifetime is a pact, a promise, a contract that exists beyond time and space. Once a Shaman, Always a Shaman. You do not need an initiation because you probably already had an initiation, maybe thousands of years ago. Some of my students get to the end of the course thinking I will do some kind of initiation for them and give them some Indian name or something. No. Those of you who are taking this course because you felt a calling to it, an affinity for this path, an attraction to study Traditional Shamanism have probably been Shamans in a past life already.

You will have to practice and learn the skills and do the exercises a million times until Spirit feels that you are ready and you will have an initiation by Spirit, not by me. I am here to hold a torch for you to walk your path. I will remind you of the old ways and everything will seem strangely familiar. Your spirit guides and totems and helpers will come to you now and teach you what you have forgotten. They have prepared this course for you and asked me to walk with you and hold the torch. They will teach you and have told me what to write.

I will also tell you that you must practice, practice, practice. You are very rusty with your skills. The exercises in this course are for practice, not just one or twice but continually until you get all the meaning and all the experience that lies underneath their surface. As you do them over and over you will find other things hidden inside them that I did not talk about. Like a hunter, you must get so good with the bow and arrow, until you are the best hunter in the forest. How can you feed the village if you are not the best? This is where most of my students fall apart. They do not want to do the work.

 

I value you so much that I use my own life force energy, my own chi that keeps me alive, to build a net beneath you and to protect you until you get strong enough to protect yourselves. I give up my own life because I want so much to see you fulfill your life's purpose and I know that this course gives you the tools and skills to do just that! Even if you don’t remember being a Shaman in a time long ago, it’s OK! Just work with these lessons and gain these abilities to heal yourself and others in the old traditional ways. Day 89 Why Study Shamanism?

This is probably the most common question asked today. And you know why so many people ask it? Because we are brought up in a society that does not have Shamanism. Worse than that, we are brought up without community. In the old days we were raised with a strong community around us. We lived together, played together, grew up together and sometimes even died together. We had elders and doctors and teachers and medical advisors right within this strong close knit community.

Part of the work for Shaman elders would be to watch the children and find what each child was strong in. Then that gift or gifts were encouraged and the child grew into whatever came naturally to him or her. It was the community, the elders, the teachers, and the parents who realized the blessings and were happy to help the child be what he or she was meant to be in life.

Today we have no such possibility for ourselves or for our children. For the most part, we are raised to fit into a box; to learn what everyone else learns and to ignore or abandon anything that does not fit into society’s box. It doesn’t have to be this way. We have a choice. It is not too late to look inside and find those special gifts we were born with by studying Traditional Shamanism.

Each of us has one or more gifts buried somewhere inside our spirits. Can you imagine how beautiful this world would be if each of us studied and mastered the gifts we were given? Who would be left sick? Or poor?

I am posting a lesson here on the blog this time for those of you who are interested in learning more. This is a subject that is not really covered in the course and so I feel this might be a good place to learn this talent. All Shamans have several power songs because the vibration of the notes in the voice and in the fourth chakra of the throat stimulate sympathetic vibrations in the universe to respond. Power songs are used in preparation for journeying and can also be used in healing or even when offering Reiki.

To demonstrate the power of voice and musical notes I would like to you try this exercise.

The fourth chakra is the note FA as in Do Re Me FA. Find a piano and discover the sound of this note if possible. Or find your own closest approximation to it. It is important to find the sound of FA.  The middle key on the piano is middle C go up four notes to F.

The fourth note or sound of FA is also the note of manifestation or creation upon this planet. So if we want to manifest healing, for example, we can send our intention out upon the note FA into the universe and healing will resonate with our voice of FA and become manifest where we are intending. It really is that simple.

Don't try to complicate it like so many others have. This little simple secret is one that some people have paid thousands of dollars for. Some people have made millions creating musical tapes based on the sound of Fa, subliminal, holosync tapes that offer healing are based on the sound FA. But now you know how to do it yourself.

The visual symbol for the universe made manifest is the square. This symbolizes the power of thought and vibration become solid and material in this apparent world. So lets combine the sound of Fa with the visualization of a square.

Get yourself someplace comfortable where you will not be disturbed for a while. Close your eyes and visualize a square. Intone the sound FA and watch the square and see what image appears there. Let me know what you see.

I often get to dancing and rattling while I intone my power song and bring my whole body into the act of intending a healing for someone. The more feeling you put into it, the stronger the vibration.Have you ever listened to a native american song? There is usually one major tone for the song, isn't there! Now you know why!

As a final thought, each note in the scale represents a unique vibratory pattern in the universe. You could do a study to find those out if you would like to know more about sound. So you see the need for your own power song. Create one this week. it is usually just a line or two repeated over and over. You can use words or vowels or an imaginary language. As long as you create it with FA as your base and emotion and intent, it will be perfect. Power songs are usually kept private and seldom sung in public. The only time they are sung in public is when a group of Shamans have gathered to do a combined healing. It is your prayer to the universe.

Day 77 Is There Evil in The World?

If you decide something is negative, then it is. If you decide something is positive, then it is. If you want to believe in good versus bad, then you decide you will, and it exists. But when you get beyond negative and positive, now you are deciding to have neither good nor bad and now you are getting to a real place! The Hawaiian Huna teachings say that you are responsible for everything that happens to you. And that is what I am saying, too. You create your own reality. It will be as good or as bad as you choose. So if you can get beyond good and bad you can reach God, At-One-ment, Enlightenment.

Day 73 Why Do I Charge for Teaching

I wish I had some other income so I could just teach without charging, I truly do! I wish I was independently wealthy or was supported by a husband or trust fund, but I am not. That is not how it is supposed to be, anyway.  

I never charge for healing, but think about it; if I put myself in a position where I cannot afford a loaf of bread, then I won't be able to teach, right? So in order to study with a teacher, you have to support that teacher so he or she can teach, right? Have you ever had a teacher in school who didn’t earn her living through your financial support?

As I told you, I have no other source of income. My students support me completely and actually that is the true Traditional way of Shamanism, to be supported completely according to the Shaman's own effectiveness as a Shaman. I obviously have very strong and true teachings if I can be supported solely by students. I obviously am an effective healer if I can be supported by the free will donations I receive from those who are healed. If I was not supported by my students and donations and I had to make a living working at Wendy’s, I would not be here to help so many people gain their healing or grow spiritually.

So by asking me to teach you for free, you are asking me to not have any bread, to not have a place where I can have a computer, to not afford internet, to not be able to teach and yet to not charge for teaching. Do you see how impossible it is?

There is a basic truth known to all Shamans and it says that effectiveness is the yardstick of ability. What that means is you can tell a good baker by his baked goods. You can tell a good gardener by the flowers he grows. You can tell a good Shaman by the healings and teachings she produces.

No matter who you study with, make sure that you can see the effectiveness of that person's ability. My effectiveness can be seen in the fact that my students support me because they are getting something of such value that they choose to support me. I would hope that what you would learn from me would be of such value to you that you would also choose to support me. You pay that carpenter for building your house. You pay that tutor who helps your children. You should see the value in supporting this teacher, too.

 In my case, your donations and course fees make it possible for thousands of other people to find me and receive help because you make it possible for me to be here for them.  These people are at the end of their ropes. They have exhausted all other sources and have no more money to afford any more professionals and they write to me as their last hope.  And indeed, they DO receive their answers and their healing and their lives turn around and they are blessed simply through their contact with my guides and elders and ancestors who are with me here and miracles happen in their lives. Knowing that your donation makes this possible for thousands of people every year, doesn’t it make your heart feel good to know that you are part of their healing? Day 40 Is There A Difference Between an Exorcism and A Soul Retrieval

Shall I tell you how many people who have tried and failed at exorcism come to me for help? Oh my goodness, if it is ever a choice between exorcism or soul retrieval, go for soul retrieval if you can find a reputable shaman willing to do it. And there will be a lot of diagnosis before a soul retrieval is done. The good shaman wants to be sure that this soul retrieval will be the answer. I ask my clients a whole ton of questions about them, about their symptoms physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I look for other causes of their symptoms besides soul loss. I consult Creator and my guides and the client's guides. I don't think the priest who does an exorcism is even able to consult with Creator on a one to one basis before he treats his client. I think if he did consult Creator, Creator would teach him to phone up a true shaman! LOL!

So there is no spiritual difference between a soul retrieval and an exorcism. The big difference is the priest makes the being come into this reality through the poor client's body and the shaman risks his or her own life to go to where the being lives and encounter it and heal it there.

An Excerpt from “The Shaman Speaks” by Shaman Elder Maggie

All that we see here is only 5% of the total energies around us; the slowest vibrating energies are the ones we can see with our eyes. These beings live in the other 95% we aren't normally aware of. And that 95% is the part that you are contacting with a Ouija Board.

I think it is important to be aware of this scientific fact, to use your own abilities to become aware of all the energies around you and to know that there are high vibration energetic beings who wish to help you and lower vibration energetic beings who care nothing about you, and even lower vibration energetic beings who wish to deplete your energy. This 95% is very much unknown to us in general and needs to be recognized, studied and respected just as we recognize, study and respect those things we see in our physical world. How very limiting of us to assume that what we see is all there is!

We have so much science now to back this up. We know how the moon affects even our emotions! We can't "see" that energy but we all agree it is there. What else is out there affecting us? From a Shaman's point of view, there is so much more here than just what I see with my eyes. Be aware of it, learn about it safely and carefully. I teach about it so people don't go running in headlong like a lemming leaping off a cliff. It is a fascinating study, not taught in too many places yet, but needs to be approached with awareness of the inherent dangers as there are inherent dangers in this physical world all around us. A Ouija Board is an open invitation to the astral world. I don’t recommend their use whatsoever. There are better, safer ways to travel the astral world.

Day 20: Your Beliefs Are Not My Beliefs

I believe what I believe. I believe many things. These beliefs started when I was born. First, my parents gave me beliefs. Don't sleep in your clothes, stay clean, don't crawl out your bedroom window or we will kick your butt. And as I got a bit older they started using fear beliefs so they could control me. If I don't clean my room I will be punished. If I don't do my homework I will not be able to watch TV. So on. And then school gave me beliefs. You must go to school. You must go through 12 grades. And fear beliefs became more prevalent for me. I must get good grades or I will be held back. I must be quiet or I will be sent to the principal's office. I must not pass notes or I will get detention. By the time I finished school almost all my beliefs were given to me by parents, school and religion. Give your money to the church or go to hell. You are a sinful ingrate. But at the same time, we begin to wonder what we really believe. It’s a natural thing to challenge beliefs given to us by others. 

Then I got a job. And more beliefs were given to me, very much based on fear. I can't be late or I will lose my job. And culture and government and society gave me fear beliefs as well. Pay your taxes or you will go to jail. Get a car. Get insurance. Get more bills. Pay your bills or go to jail. Wow! Getting a bit overwhelming here! And now you have the picture of Joe America!A whole bunch of beliefs given by other people that are making Joe feel terrible and he isn't even taking the time to look at what he believes and to see if those beliefs are even working for him! 

Many sages throughout history have told us that what we believe creates our reality. If we believe that elevators are dangerous, we cannot ride in an elevator. If we believe that we are less than wonderful, then we are less than wonderful. If we believe that old religious belief that we are going to hell, then we are going to hell. We create our reality with what we believe. And if you look at how people live you can actually sometimes see what they believe. Take the homeless person on the street. Look at their reality. They may honestly believe they cannot have a home. And so they don't. You can stop here and think of other examples.

Now each person has their own set of beliefs. And they base their judgments on their beliefs. But that has nothing to do with your belief system. 

It is a little microcosm, a person’s beliefs create his or her reality, create his or her judgments, create his or her choices based on beliefs. 

Well, that homeless person may be convinced that he cannot have a home but I am not convinced of that. So his belief system does not work for me. And that's OK. That's called the right to choose, free will choice. Even if it is messed up, it is still his free will choice. But what if he told me that I cannot have a home because he believes he can't have a home so no one should have a home. How valid is that judgment for me? Not very valid at all. I don't believe what he believes. And how valid is any judgment he makes about me? Not very valid at all, as he is judging from his own belief system, not mine. And how valid is my judgment of him? Not very valid at all, because I would be judging him based on my beliefs which may or may not be his. So what is the point of judging someone else? There is none. And what is the point of being affected by someone else's judgment of you? None. It is not based on what you believe so it has little to no bearing on you. So relax! 

Understand that people walk around within their own microcosm; their own belief system, their own reality. We are like a million unique snowflakes. The good thing is that you can change your reality by changing what you believe.

Day 10: Negative thoughts

A student recently asked me

“I have noticed that I work at trying to be positive everyday, telling myself I can do this and I will accomplish that.  I also repeat positive affirmations during my drive to a job location.  The negative or opposite is always trying to get its way.  To do nothing.  To just don't reply.  Often times the negative voice(s) in my head or whispers in my mind's ear speak to me about a confusing better way to complete a task, just to keep me from the direction I was heading and should have finished.  How do I sort this out? What is going on here?”

In Traditional Shamanism we know that all good is from Creator. Everything Creator creates is wholly good. So all those positive thoughts and energies you feel and encounter are from God. Only man can create negative things. So all the influences and thoughts you encounter that are negative are man made.

Yes we have both around us all the time. Sometimes as men we even create negative things for ourselves. But the shaman sees all those thoughts both good and bad as entities or beings. A thought is a creation. If backed by feeling its like a car that is given gas and becomes a creation, a being, a thought form. It moves along energy lines like comets traveling in space and affects everything it passes near. So not only your own self created negative thought forms but those of everyone else are out here traveling like comets streaking by our consciousness. And we can become magnets through our own energies and attract thought forms to us, both positive and negative.

What feeds a thought form being? Our own energy, our own emotional energy in particular. Emotion is like gasoline to these thought forms. Negative beings feed on negative energy, fear, frustration, feelings of lack. Positive thought forms feed on positive energy, love, joy. So if we are feeling frustrated not only are we feeding our own negative beings but we are attracting the negative beings of other thought forms around us, out here in the limitless energetic world. They are attracted to us like magnets as we feel frustration and they are attracted to that gas we are offering to power them and keep them alive.

Can a thought form run out of gas and cease to exist? Yes. And that is our choice. Nobody can make us feel happy or sad or angry or jealous. We choose to feel those ways ourselves. We are in control of our own lives.
