Coercion by Outside Sources

The definition of insanity is continuing to hold on to a belief that does not benefit you at all.

Look at your beliefs!

Make a list of what you believe and why you choose to believe that.

See what it is that is causing you to suffer.

It is your own non benfitting beliefs that are causign you to suffer and struggle. I can help you through this process if you want. Just email me.

I find that so many people want to tell us what we should do
and in the end- they lead us wrong.

Or people try to force me to make the choices that they would make
and those choices do not actually work at all in my own life.

I would rather make 10 bad choices on my own than to let someone else steer me into a bad choice. Wouldn't you?

That is why I am here, offering you these online courses that teach you the real  truth as our ancestors knew the truth, so that you can make your own choices standing in your own power.

It is information you need, not outside direction or worse- coercion.

Be a Lake

Be A Lake  (Source Unknown)

The old Master instructed the unhappy young man to put a handful of salt in a glass of water and then to drink it.
"How does it taste?" the Masterasked.
"Awful," spat the apprentice

The Master chuckled and then asked the young man to take another handful of salt and put it in the lake.

The two walked in silence to the nearby lake
and when the apprentice swirled his handful of salt into the lake,
the old man said, "Now drink from the lake

As the water dripped down the young man's chin, the Master asked,
"How does it taste?"
"Good!" remarked the apprentice.
"Do you taste the salt?"  asked the Master.
"No," said the young man.

The Master sat beside this troubled young man, took his hands, and said,
"The pain of life is pure salt; no more, no less.
The amount of pain in life remains the same, exactly the same.
But the amount we taste the 'pain'
depends on the container we put it into.
So when you are in pain, the
only thing you can do is to enlarge your sense of things .....

Stop being a glass.

Day 101 From a Student

A Student Writes: "I am so honored beyond belief as to who you are for me, my family and everything and I am clear that I cannot even imagine all the miracles you are causing.  I see them every day.  My husband is so thankful for you in our life too.  He had a great conversation with his younger son yesterday and were clear it was you who helped with that.  Thank YOU.  Things are getting better all around, both of them seem happy and healthy and taking care of themselves and responsible and they both seem clear.  Thank YOU.  Again, youre making me cry.  My only issue today was that I noticed my brain trying to figure out how to repay you my husband says not to do that and just receive.  He is very wise. its receiving of your love and Creators love for me that makes me cry tears of gratitude, freedom and joy". - Kristine Castro

Day 97 An Exercise for You to Try

How are you doing today? Ready for a shamanic visualization exercise?
Try this little exercise
and then write your answers to the questions in your email reply to
shaman@shamanelder.com
 Diagnosis One. Above and Below
First: Sit down. Find room enough to draw a circle around yourself out
the length of your arms. So you are probably sitting on the ground.
2. Take a deep breath. Take several. Calm yourself and balance yourself.
 3. Think of one color. Quick! Put that color inside your circle. What
 color is it?
4. Think of one bird that most represents you. The bird you most like or
identify with. Imagine that bird flying around your head in this circle.
 What bird is it?
 5. Imagine one animal you have always identified with. Imagine him
standing beside you. What animal is it?
 6. Imagine one plant that you have always liked. See a whole field of
this plant growing all around you. You are sitting in a field of your
favorite flowers. What flowers are these?
How do you feel right now? Breathe. Just take this in and breathe.
 Center yourself.
OK now look again at the bird flying around over your head. Invite this bird into your heart. Does it come in easily or does it hesitate? Is it happy
or sad? What emotion does the bird have?
Now look at the animal standing beside you. Invite this animal into your heart. Does it come in with joy, anger, does it hesitate, does it refuse? What emotion does it have?
Is it happy or sad or angry? Does it say anything to you?
Now look at the field of flowers. Are they well and growing great? Just
budding? Withering? How do they feel emotionally?  Look at their roots?
Are they long and strong or weak?

Now lie back in the field of flowers. Actually lie down for this moment
on  the place you have been sitting. Just stretch out for a moment and
visualize that field of flowers all around you. No matter whether they
look good or bad, thriving or wilting. Just be with them for a minute.
How do they make you feel?
When you are ready this exercise is done. Please send me your answers to shaman@shamanelder.com.
We have more exercises like this in the Shaman Apprenticeship 101 course. If you are not already a student you can sign up today by going to www.shamanelder.com You will have your first lesson within 48 hours!

Day 86 Rescuing People

We were taught by our parents that we have to do things for other people in order to achieve some kind of self esteem for ourselves. Even if it was to get a beer for dad from the fridge or clean up the dog poop or wash the dishes so mom could sit down and watch TV we were trained from day one to do things for others. If we did good we were rewarded with feelings of love. So we grew up thinking that love was s conditional thing, a barter chip. If you do this I will love you and approve of you. But if you don’t then you are a pile of dog poop and I will withhold my love from you and tell you that you are worthless. Wow! This is what we do to kids! I heard recently that kids hear 300 negative comments about themselves and only 60 positive comments about themselves each day. So we grow up completely out of self esteem and the only way we know to get it is by helping others. But mom and dad are out the picture now. We may have a boyfriend or wife or husband or children now and we do things to help them. Often things they don’t want done! But we also try to help them out of problems or troubles or situations that may cause them suffering.

The fact is that everybody hates change. They don’t’ want to change anything in their lives and then something comes up that no longer benefits them and they know they need to change that thing but they don’t want to change so they start whining and complaining and tell us that they hurt and are suffering and we think it would be good to help them and do something to help them get out of their pain. The truth is they have set into motion the wheels that will cause change to happen in their lives. They have begun the machine that will push them up against the wall and force them to make that change they need to make that will benefit their lives but that they don’t want to make. WE set this machine in motion by our own intention! Its how people get to the point of being able to make a change in their lives. But you see this person suffering and being squeezed and yelling loudly about it and you (or anyone) marches right in there and rescues them from the very machine that was set in motion to benefit their lives! And you keep going in and rescuing them over and over and over, preventing them really from having to make the change that they even know they need to make! Wow!

If you have any friends with teenage kids you can see this machine in action very plainly. The point I am trying to show you here is that we should not rescue people from the very machines they created to force themselves to make a beneficial change in their lives! If people liked change, if people could embrace change, no one would create these machines. But since people hate change, this is what they do. Please don’t try to rescue them from their own machines. Its far kinder to let them go through this experience they chose for themselves and make the change and get on with life. I am sure you can look at your own history and see how many times you created such a machine to force  you to do something you didn’t want to do.

Day 75 Personal Power

What does personal power have to do with this? Everything. Who do you give your power to? When you give in to someone else's wishes, desires or demands, when you allow someone else to control you in any way, when you say, feed me, heal me, support me emotionally, mentally or physically. You are giving your power away.
Some people find it easier to give their power away than to own their own power. It may feel easier to say feed me, heal me, support me than to do it yourself. Heck, most people do this. And so we have codependency and unhappy relationships. The truth is, no one can feed you, heal you or support you in the manner that you can for yourself. Why? Because no one loves you as much as you love yourself. And that is the way it should be. You know the commandment "Love the Lord Thy God with all thy heart and love others as you love yourself"? You are supposed to love yourself at least as much as you love others. But we don't love ourselves very much do we! In fact we love everybody else far more than we love ourselves. And because we don't love ourselves very much we let other people take over where we should be in control. We feed the needs and desires of other people and put our own on the back burner. And after a while we start to resent those people we are feeding because we are starving and we think that it is their fault. But it is not their fault.
Everyone is out there trying to get the best for themselves. Your kids are looking out for themselves. Your husband is trying to get what he needs. Your parents are trying to get what they need. And instead of you trying to get what you need, you are out there giving everybody what they need, what they ask for, what they desire. Guess what. They will get what they need whether you are the giver or not. The point is, who is getting you what you want?
If you need healing, you will find the very best and easiest to get healing, right inside you. If you need love, the very greatest and freest love is right inside you. If you need support, you can support yourself. If you need food, you know how to work for food. When you understand that loving yourself and caring for yourself is the only job you have, your life suddenly, and I do mean suddenly, becomes a joy to live! You are not responsible for Mom and Dad and Junior and hubby. You are only responsible for you! So much easier! And then you can start to really love yourself, to be kind to yourself, to care for your needs, your desires, your wishes. Believe me, no one else can really do it for you. They can try and you can ask but no one can do it like you can. And don't worry about hubby and junior. They will continue to take care of themselves. They may beg or plead because you turned off your easy access faucet but they will either turn on their own ever present Source and do it for themselves or they will find someone else they can leech off. They don't need to leech off you. It is not good for them anyway. They need to learn to love themselves too.
You know, this life is short. I would hate to see you leave without learning that you can love yourself and give yourself everything you need to be happy, absolutely joyous. Wouldn't you like to try it once before you go? Isn't that perhaps the lesson you are here to learn, the thing you came here to experience? Loving yourself

Day 72 Freedom

Let me tell you about fear.
We are taught fear from birth. Our parents use fear to control us. If you have raised children yourself you know that you may have used fear to scare the kids into doing what you wanted them to do. Then fear is the controller in school. You will be punished if you do not do things the way they want, stay after school, detention, principal's office, failing grades, its all about fear.
So by adulthood, we are totally controlled by fear and it is the biggest part of our lives. Then we go to work. We learn to fear coming in late, displeasing the boss, not doing a super job every day, taking too long a lunch break, all kinds of things. So fear dominates our work life. Then we get married. And we use fear to control each other. “I won't love you if you ....( displease) me in any way.” “Get that supper on the table in time or I will be angry.” “Mow that lawn or I will shame you to the neighbors.” More, more, more. Fear of anger becomes the control in a relationship many times.
Wow! We are fear based people aren't we! How sad! At what point do we get to breathe??? No wonder we are unhappy. What a crumby way to live!
And who has time now to unravel 30 or 40 years of fear based thinking? It seems easier to take Prozac than to go to a counselor and work on the psychological factors for months or years. It seems easier to medicate than to break the chain. And it takes breaking the chain to find freedom, happiness and power.
What would you like to do? How precious is your freedom to you? How badly do you want to be happy? How much is your personal power worth to you?
Taking my course in Traditional Shamanism requires one to accept his or her own power. It teaches you where it is and shows the way. The course teaches you how to be a hunter, a warrior and work with the tools that have been given to you already but that you are afraid to use (because everybody told you not to). Why did they say that? Because, if you learn to use your God given tools they will no longer be able to control you with fear.
When we truly take back our power, no person can have power over us again.
When we truly take back our power, we become responsible for everything that happens to us. We can make wonderful things happen in our lives. We are no longer under the influence of other people’s poor plans for our lives.
Who knows you better than you? Why do you let others decide what is best for you? Only you know what is best for you. Step up and make your choices, take responsibility for your choices and watch those fear based controllers run for the hills. Those who were controlling you will leave. Why should they stay if they can't touch you anymore! Believe me it a very freeing feeling and all it take is a choice, a different way of living.

Traditional Shamanism teaches you to reclaim your power; that you are strong and yes, you do create your own reality. Traditional Shamanism also expects you to accept responsibility for yourself and for your actions and consequences. But that is not as bad as sitting back saying, "Well, they made me do this." What is that??! It is wonderful to be in charge of your own life! It is great to know that whatever you want in life is yours with the proper knowledge, the sincere intent and the correct emotional control. Traditional Shamanism gives you the skills. It is a great thing!
Should you fear studying Traditional Shamanism? Fear is a choice you can make. The other choice is freedom. Let someone control you, fear; or take control of yourself, freedom. My course in Traditional Shamanism will teach you how to take control of yourself and experience the freedom to have anything you really want out of life.

Day 64 The Four Enemies of a Shaman Part Two: Clarity

2. Clarity:

How many times have you heard someone say, “O yes I know that!” This very attitude keeps that person from ever learning anything new, from ever getting a new perspective or changing an idea or an old worn out belief. I have had people tell me that I needed a microwave to make tea! Do you see how we put ourselves into a terrible prison by thinking we are clear on something? The truth is we have not yet perceived much more than 10 % of all that is. How can we ever say we have clarity on anything? And isn’t the fun of this life experience in the exploration itself? Assuming we have clarity cuts off our very creativity, our ingenuity, our problem solving skills or innovative ideas. It also makes us burdens on those around us as we try to force others to see things only as we see them. It violates the free will choice of others to impose our supposed clarity on others. So to battle this enemy we need to have an attitude of humility, “Ok I don’t know everything. In fact, I don’t really know much about anything”. We need to have the intent to honor, to honor the Self and to honor others and not put ourselves higher or grander or more important than anything else, even a rock.

So we overcome clarity with an attitude of humility and an intent to honor Self and others.

Day 63 The Four Enemies of a Shaman Part one: Fear

1. Fear:

Fear is what we might feel when we approach the unknown. It is said that if you feel fear then do your best to gain all the information you can about the thing that frightens you. But since we have so far perceived so very little of this universe, both manifest and non manifest, there are going to be things that are unknown to us. Fear is not something we can entirely banish from our lives unless we go live in a prison cell and sit there doing nothing, not gaining any new experiences or perceptions at all. But that would not be the life of a shaman warrior.

Whenever we face the unknown we find our own identities, our own concepts and beliefs and reality being confronted. For some people, this is an attack on what they are comfortable with, the rut they live in, the suffering they have grown accustomed to and they do not want to be confronted with anything that is unknown. For the shaman warrior, there is no way to gain a new perception without confronting the unknown! So we go in even though we feel this fear. We work through this fear, we go in spite of fear and we walk into the unknown with a spirit of humility. We take authority for what we do know, we take responsibility for the fact that we do not know very much at all and we step into the unknown like the Star Trek Enterprise speeding off to new galaxies, to go where no man has gone before! LOL!

Our new dimension is this now moment. This moment is the only one we are responsible for. The only one we have any control over, the only one that matters. This now moment is a chance to gain a new perception, to widen our view, to see new heights, to add a beam to our boat, to create.

To vanquish Fear: Take responsibility for your harmony. Align yourself in balance with everything around you. Be at peace with what is in this very moment now. Are you OK now in this moment right here? And in this moment? And in this moment now? And now? And then have an attitude of humility; you do not know everything and you never will know everything so let the world be a mystery and enjoy exploring it and gaining new perceptions 100 times each day as a child would explore his back yard or as Captain Kirk would explore a new galaxy.
