Day 9: One Life Lesson I learned that applies to everything!

1. Know what you want.
2. Know what stands in your way.
3. Know the true strength of what stands in your way.
4. Know if your desire is attainable.
When you know your desire is attainable, that it is what you want, and what stands in the way of your attaining it:
5. Evaluate your best method of attaining your desire.
6. Then follow that course of action, even if you must do it alone.
 7. Go in swiftly, with all your might to claim your desire.

You will not fail!

Day 8: The Moon

My Shaman grandmother and her people were not astrologers but were very capable of using the stars to find their way across vast expanses of snow and tundra.  So she never taught me anything about specific constellations as forces of energy on this planet, but she did teach me this.
My grandmother taught me that when the moon is waxing it is a good time to begin new projects, to do new things, to start new things, to be proactive, to get the car repaired or have dealings with businesses etc.
When the moon is waning, its not a good time for those things. It is a good time to clean up, reorganize, complete, rest, regroup.

If you just do this much you will find a huge difference in your life. Try it and see!
Take the challenge!

Day 7: Shamanic Ceremony

Subconscious and super consciousness: the Shaman of old knew nothing about these psychological terms. And that is why he used ceremony so devoutly. Bathing in rivers, painting of faces, making of voodoo dolls, dressing as animals dancing around fires. All these are ways of connecting to the subconscious and the super conscious. I find in my opinion that ceremonies do more to heal people than all the psychological counseling out there. People can relate to ceremony. They can be a part of a ceremony and through that they can touch the subconscious and superconscious and receive a healing.
I am all for simplicity. I am not into paying thousands of dollars to some would be therapist to be only hurt more by that therapist's misconceptions and mucked up personal reality! Give me a good old fashioned medicine wheel or vision quest.
I prefer to do shamanic healing in person. That physical connection with the eyes of the client is more healing than anything I know. Sucking illness out of a client's body and spitting it into a body of water is so completely confirming to the client. Seeing is believing. And it is all about what the client believes, isn't it. What easier way is there to change a belief, to realize a healing?
Now the other side of the coin is to fake a healing and try to fool the person by putting on a great ceremony. That is a sham, a ruse, a fakir and there are Shamans who do this, too. Does it work? Sometimes. We have seen it work for Christian faith healers and others. But is it the work of a Shaman? Not this one!
If I cannot actually bring healing to someone, then I don't pretend I can. No one human can do everything. That's why there is more than one of us! LOL! And when I bring healing to someone I  am the first one on my knees giving thanks to the God force where that healing comes from.
So be careful! Never offer healing or ceremony for healing unless you believe in your own ability to do so.

Day 6: Staying the Course

I want to tell you something that I have learned in my own life and that has been echoed by teachers and masters throughout time. It seems to be a universal law and you should be aware of it.

When ever someone steps up and begins to shine their light for the good of the world, to claim their power as a healer or a giver of Light in any form, there are those beings in the inner worlds who hate this! They do not want Light to shine in this physical plane. Think of the writer with writer's block or the athlete who cannot quite reach that 10.0. In fact, anyone who has come close to achieving their goals has run into blockages, rocks thrown in their paths, distractions, detours. These are not there by accident!

These inner world beings cannot interfere with our free will choice. But they can use the forces of nature and willing accomplices to try to stop our walk. If you want to be a healer or a writer or an athlete or a Shaman you have to have determination, an intent to walk your path no matter what. You have to be impeccable in your own life and do your best each and every day just like that athlete. You have to make time for your path. It does not just skip merrily along with you on it. It is a choice you make each day to walk it or not walk it. Do not let these beings deter you from doing what you knowing your heart you should do. That is weakness, not being impeccable. These beings are not strong. They are like bees along the path. Shoo them away and set your heart and mind on your good path and achieve what you came here to do.

There is an old saying in the Yaqui tribes that I was taught by my teacher there. It is, that by the time you have finally learned what your path is and how to walk it, your legs are too old to do the walking! Do not let this happen to you. We need your healing, your light in this world yesterday! You can see all the healing that needs to be done here. You can see the people suffering, crying out, lost in their own pathless lives. Today you can do something about that. Today you can live an impeccable life. You can do your very best in every way today and that includes learning what you need to learn, practicing your skills and offering healing to those who come your way.

Day 5: Truth

There is a great truth given to me by a teacher. He was a great teacher! He said that if you do not live your truth then you are nothing. He taught me the meaning of truth not only in what I say but in what I do and in how I interact with you as a colleague, a friend, a teacher. A person without truth is totally worthless. You cannot trust them, you cannot believe them, you cannot depend on them to help you. And what do they have if they do not have their truth? Nothing. That is why I begin and end everything I say or write with Aho! which means in the Yaqui language, " I speak my truth."

My truth may be all I have to give you but I have my truth and I keep a sacred vow to myself to be in my truth at all times. In this I have dignity and light and power. It is part of not only being a Shaman but of being an authentic human.

Day 4: Sacred Space

Some people by Sacred Space mean opening a medicine wheel and leaving it open in their living space or work space. The medicine wheel is a prayer. So to leave a wheel open is like getting to the middle of prayer and then changing the subject! Not very good intention methinks.

Some people by Sacred Space mean building an altar and making a location that has energy through the items they place there.

But when I think of Sacred Space I think of you! You are a sacred space, a big one if you will recognize it. And you get to bring your sacred space everywhere you go. And you offer your sacred space to others when you are in their presence whether they feel it or not. You are the church, you are the holy ground, you are the embodiment of energy and when you come into contact with other people they are also in contact with this energy. So it is your job to bring the energy of Creator into you and shine it through you wherever you are. You, yourself create a Sacred space wherever you are. Do you doubt it? Then think about it some more. Really realize it.

Those that need to create a Sacred Space by building something or doing some kind of energy work are in my opinion not confident within themselves and their own power to realize that they themselves are the most sacred space.

Now sometimes I feel that I need to wear a certain kind of stone to balance out my Sacred Space when I am feeling sick or tired or just out of balance in some way, or when I am going into a certain situation outside the home, visiting a hospital for example, I take a green stone with me to enhance the heading qualities of my sacred space. Here is where awareness and balance again play such an important part in a Shaman's work. Intent too. What is your intention for your sacred space? And what are you doing to your sacred space when you are in a "poor little me" attitude?
Realizing that you are Sacred Space and that you share this sacred space with every other person on the planet, yes, this is a way to experience daily activity from a higher perspective!

Day 3: Knowing Myself

I am an old woman now. And here is something I know in my heart to be true. When we are true to ourselves and being who we truly are, there are many sources of confirmation from outside sources, including events in the physical world, interactions with people who are meant to confirm our truth for us, our path is bright and we are able to walk it easily, spirit guides and teachers come to us and we are able to receive their wisdom fully and easily. When we are fooling ourselves we get none of this.

I work with many people counseling them and this is a fact. It is those people who are deluding themselves who will tell you they cannot find their guides; that no one is teaching them, that they cannot connect to Source.
